I am married and father of two, 1 of which is a swimmer. I am also a serving Police Officer and have been for over 2 decades working in a variety of roles within West Yorkshire and the Region. I have been in and around water since before I can remember, my mother was a council swim teacher and my brothers and I started young. I moved into competitive swimming at around the age of 11 and I represented Bingley and City of Bradford in local, county and regional competitions. I stopped competing at around 16 years of age as my rugby career had started to take off and having played rugby for the next few years I came back to swimming after I had retired in 2012 as I needed something less likely to injury me and to get out from under my Wife’s feet!! I came back to competitive training in 2017 with Bradford Swimming Club and haven’t looked back. I now swim in galas and in open water for the Masters Section of the club.
I have several coaching and teaching qualifications from swimming, rugby and work. All of which have similar ethos’s around development of the participant.
City and Guilds Level 4 – Education and Development
City and Guilds Level 3 – Education and Training
Swim England – Coach, (Level 2)
Swim England – Assistant Coach, (Level 1)
England Rugby Coach Developer
England Rugby Coach (Level 1 & 2)
I am also a Trauma Medic and Instructor with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service so the kids and members are in good hands should the worst happen.
I currently coach the Development Squad on a Friday which I thoroughly enjoy. Many of the swimmers I have coached over the recent years are now progressing through the club and are now representing City of Bradford and us at local, county and regional levels.
